VisionBridge supports a substantive change in disability employment policy. We will work to amplify the Disability Employment Charter’s voice to engender reforms in areas such as supported internships, mandatory reporting, Access to Work, Disability Confident, leveraging procurement, statutory sick pay and flexible working for disabled people.
However, don’t forget that policy change is one thing, but access to assistive technology (ATech) is another! ATech is an essential piece of the disability employment jigsaw puzzle. We must encourage government to fund more ATech provision, incentivise employers to adopt the Disability Employment Charter recommendations plus deploy wayfinding technologies suchas Waymap, to vastly improve access to/from and in/around places of work.
